The turbinate (or nasal concha) are bony shelves in your nose covered by glandular tissue rich in blood vessels and nerves. The turbinate help to regulate the flow of air through your nose. The inferior turbinate can sometimes permanently enlarge and block your nose.
Turbinectomy is a procedure in which some or all of the turbinate bones in the nasal passage are removed, generally to relieve nasal obstruction. In most cases, turbinate hypertrophy is accompanied by some septum deviation, so the surgery is done along with septoplasty.
During the Turbinectomy surgery in Iran
A turbinectomy is usually performed under general anaesthetic and takes about 15-30 minutes. It is performed through your nostrils so you will not have any surgical wounds or scarring.
Reducing your enlarged turbinate can be done in several ways:
You surgeon may pack your nasal passage. The packing will be removed before you leave hospital. Very often a turbinectomy is performed along with a procedure to correct a deviated septum (Septoplasty).

Departure
Recovery times vary for each type of turbinate reduction procedure. For less invasive turbinate reductions, recovery is usually quick and not very painful. In about three weeks, the new scar tissue in your nose should be completely healed.
Your nose may feel blocked and may release some blood-stained fluid for up to 2 weeks following your operation. You should avoid any strenuous activity at this time. You will need to stay off work and away from groups of people for 2 weeks. This is to avoid getting a cold that could result in infection.
To avoid possible bleeding and swelling, avoid strenuous activities and blowing your nose for several weeks after your surgery.
Your doctor may also recommend you elevate your head while sleeping and wear clothing that fastens in front — rather than clothing that is pulled over your head — to avoid irritating your nose.
