Cheek Implants for Men

As you age you can sometimes lose the rounded appearance of your cheeks. Loss of muscle tone and fat beneath the skin may flatten the area around your cheekbones, and this loss of volume can be more noticeable even than other signs of aging like wrinkles. Cheek implants can be performed on men and women alike, and help bring back that full, vibrant, youthful look we all crave. Men and women who have hollow cheeks and a flat and narrow face are the best candidates.

Male Cheek Implant Procedure

Cheek implant surgery — also called cheek augmentation — may take up to two hours depending on the implant material used and the technique required to perform the procedure. Incisions are made right below the eyelash or on either side of the mouth. Implants are then inserted in the lower mid-cheek area to fill out a narrow face, or in the upper outer cheek area to create a higher cheekbone. Men and women may choose to have both of these procedures completed to achieve a more balanced look.

Types of Male Cheek Implant

Cheek implants come in a variety of different shapes and sizes and are custom-shaped to your facial profile to ensure the most natural results. Silicone cheek implants do not integrate with facial tissue; therefore, they can be removed if needed. Cheek implants that integrate with natural bone tissue are made of hydroxyapatite and actually become part of your cheek following surgery, so this procedure is permanent.

Benefits of Male Cheek Implants

Male cheek implants can add balance and proportion to your face

Not only can male cheek implants provide size to your cheeks, but they can also make up for the balance that you may not have had previously. Not everyone’s face is perfectly symmetrical. By having an implant inserted, you can help to define your symmetry in your face near the cheekbone. It can also help to provide a youthful look to ageing skin.

Different sizes are available to suit your structure

Aesthetic implants allow for the creation of different sizes and shapes for your surgery. This enables the ability to cater the surgery to your specific needs and provide the results you’re looking for. The purpose of the surgery is to provide you with a natural looking appearance that’s just right for you.

A quick procedure with a short recovery

Considering the area of the body where the procedure takes place, it can be a relatively quick procedure to perform. You should expect it to take around an hour and you should be able to return the same day the procedure is performed. Some swelling and bruising should be expected, but this would be normal during your recovery period.

No visible scarring after the male cheek implant procedure

A large benefit of the procedure is that incisions can be made inside your mouth rather than externally. This means the scarring isn’t noticeable. If there are occasions where external incisions are required, the incisions can be made under the natural folds of your skin. This can be extremely ideal if you’re looking to proceed with surgery but don’t want to make it obvious about what’s been done.

Cheek implant is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, but this will still depend on the complexity of the surgery involved.

For the next couple of days, patients can expect some mild swelling, bruising, and general discomfort in the immediate area. These should begin to dissipate within 48 to 72 hours post-surgery, and all visible side effects should begin to disappear after two weeks.

As with any surgery, it is important to adhere to proper aftercare measures and to take the prescribed medications to ensure a smooth, healthy recovery.
