This village, with an altitude of 2065 meters above sea level with about 7,000 inhabitants, has a moderate weather in spring and summer, but it is cold in winters. Qalaat village enjoys some natural beauties as well. Green vast fruit gardens inside and around the village provides a lovely atmosphere for tourists and travelers especially during spring and summer. There is a church called the Glory of Christ in the village. This building has survived from the Qajar period and is surrounded by charming gardens.

Most people in the village of Qalat in Shiraz are engaged in animal husbandry, horticulture and handicrafts. Walnuts, almonds, grapes, figs, pomegranates, apricots, plums and green tomatoes next to dairy products such as milk, cheese, butter and whey are the main products of this village. Its houses are like stairway steps so that the roof of one house is the yard of another. Another extraordinary thing is that the village has ancient sewerage system from an old era which is remained up to now. Passageways there in the village all covered by stone.
