The Six Steps of the Surrogacy Process in Iran

Surrogacy Process steps in Iran

What is surrogacy like?

Here we want to tell you exactly what surrogacy is like and how it is done. The process of surrogacy in Iran has 6 main steps which we will discuss here. Surrogacy has special rules.

. First step: visiting an infertility clinic or institution

Once you have made your decision and come to the conclusion that you want to have surrogacy, you need to choose the clinic and medical staff that you want to do this for you.

Usually, the first thing to do is to look for an IVF clinic, or an infertility center.

IVF clinic: It is a clinic where in vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed (sperm and egg are combined).

Infertility Institute: This institute performs part of the work, especially the legal process of surrogacy.

At this point, you'll decide on the basics, including whether you need a sperm or egg donor.

. Second step: choosing an egg donor

Couples can choose their egg donor in advance and bring her to the clinic or institution or choose one of the eggs available in the institution's egg bank. In any case, the egg donor must undergo clinical screening.

. Third step: choosing a surrogate

Similar to the previous step, the couple can either choose the surrogate in advance and introduce her to the institute or clinic or choose one of the people recommended by the institute.

. Fourth step: signing the contract

All parties involved in the surrogacy process must sign a contract. They can introduce their lawyer instead of themselves. Before signing the contract, each party should read the terms of the contract carefully. If both parties agree and sign the contract, it is possible to start the medical process. At this stage, the couple and the surrogate must cooperate with the infertility clinic.

. Fifth step: medical process

At this stage, if the IVF method is used, there are two essential steps:

. Fertility: Eggs and sperm from an infertile couple (or donated eggs and sperm) are used to create an embryo.

. Embryo transfer: Embryos are transferred to a surrogate's uterus.

Before conception, the infertile woman or egg donor (if the infertile woman cannot donate healthy eggs) must take ovulation stimulating drugs to stimulate the ovaries to produce a large number of eggs. Once the eggs are fertilized, they are surgically removed from the ovaries (egg collection stage).

. Before embryo transfer, the surrogate must take medication to prepare the uterus to accept the embryo.

If the IUI method is used, the fertilization stage is done inside the uterus, and implantation is done naturally. In this method, the sperm sample is injected into the uterus through the vagina. This method does not require surgery, is completely painless, and takes only a few seconds. Sometimes, this step is done twice in two consecutive days to increase the chances of fertility.

After 15 days, a pregnancy test is taken from the surrogate to determine if the IVF was successful or not. If the pregnancy is confirmed, care measures are started with the surrogate.

During the pregnancy, the surrogate should visit the clinic regularly for blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor the process.

. Sixth step: pregnancy, birth and parental rights

After a successful pregnancy, the infertility center should support both the couple and the surrogate, and this process should continue until the birth of the child.

After the birth of the child, it is important to read and sign all the documents that are presented to the couple and the surrogate.
